Add a CommentAs I am a quilter and make quilts for my 4-year old granddaughter, to whom I was reading the book, I really wanted to like this book, but neither my granddaughter nor I found it enjoyable. The premise of the book is that the little girl’s mother had made her a quilt out of her old clothes (that & the drawing of the quilt were the only good parts of the book). Once the little girl falls asleep, she loses her friend (her stuffed dog) in the “town” created in the quilt blocks. As she searches for her friend in her dream, some of the scenes suggest nightmares, with no real dialog to make them less frightening. The book is written with language that may keep a child under 2-years old interested, while the drawings seem to be more suited for a child at least 5-years old. My granddaughter was completely bored with the words and frightened by the pictures and the fact that the little girl’s dog remained lost until she woke up.
